Human Capital

Por Hannah Jonker | 31 May 2018 Gestión

Human capital

As a fitness professional, I have worked for various fitness clubs (Internationals and stand-a-lone fitness clubs). As a typical hybrid fitness professional, I was teaching group fitness classes, doing sales, working front desk and management. As a manager, you need to provide a work environment where people can do their job without the struggles of software and/or equipment not working satisfactory. However, it is the people that work for you that make the difference between good en great. We should focus more on our ‘Human Capital’. That is why I recommend reading Human Capital by Jan Middelkamp and Herman Rutgers. They explain why people love their job and what we can do to keep them happy and motivated.

Bouw jouw Leefstijlplan.

Innovate or Die?

Por Jan Middelkamp | 13 January 2016 Tendencias

In his famous book, The Innovator's Dilemma: When New Technologies Cause Great Firms to Fail, Christensen points out to an important dilemma in terms of needs for innovation. The most successful companies are successful because they listened to their customers and invested in technologies and products to address the needs of their (future) customers. But these are the same reasons why these companies failed: they listened to their customers and enjoyed the ‘’safe-zone’’ for too long! Sometimes you literally have to Kill the company (read this book of Bodell) before setting up something truly innovative.

Sitting is killing: The effects of sitting on our bodies

What exactly is so unhealthy about sitting that this daily habit of ours has cause significant interest among famous community health and exercise researchers? The result of this could be that owners of fitness clubs should sell their buildings or at least a part of it. This statement needs some explanation.
